Our latest Mood of the Nation report explores the views of more than 1,200 Australians on the energy transition, social cohesion and geopolitics, along with many of the other issues and views dominating our national psyche.
Prior to the Federal Government announcing its 2035 carbon emissions reduction target, support for the 2030 target has fallen slightly, while support for our 2050 net zero ambition remains steady. However, there is currently little confidence that we will meet either goal.
Whilst short and medium-term confidence in the economy remain stable, there is growing pessimism about the longer-term outlook.
Just one in three Australians now believe social cohesion is at least ‘good’—the lowest level recorded in over a year.
On a brighter note, despite the complexity of these issues, Australians are beginning to feel more emotionally buoyant.
